Sending Out the Scapegoat​

“And Aaron shall lay both his hands upon the head of the live goat, and confess over him all the iniquities of the people of Israel, and all their transgressions, all their sins; and he shall put them upon the head of the goat, and send him away into the wilderness by the hand of a man who is in readiness.” – Leviticus 16:20

Here, the priest lays his hands on the goat to confer the sins of the people on it; the goat is the sacrifice. This sacrifice is perfected in Christ, where the Father lays the sins of all upon His Son, the one true sacrifice. Prayerfully consider how Christ is a perfect sacrifice for our sins and how the Spirit enables us to participate in his sacrifice with our lives.
